Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan is one of the most talented artistes of the film industry. After becoming an overnight sensation with his debut romantic drama ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’, he delivered some memorable performances. One role that made gave the actor a status of a star is his portrayal of a mentally-challenged man Rohit Mehra with the sensibilities of an 11-year old in ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’. As the film clocked 20 years recently, Hrithik opened up about how he identified with his character. He revealed that he faced a lot of bullying in his school days just like his role in ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’.
The actor said that he resonated completely with Rohit’s character. He faced bullying for his stutter during growing up years. There were days when he wouldn’t want to go to school and would cry to his mother. In fact, the scene where Raj (Rajat Bedi) and his friends break Rohit’s scooty actually happened to Hrithik in real life. His heart broke into pieces after some senior boys broke his BMX cycle. The actor stated that he got vulnerability to portray Rohit’s character through his personal experiences.
‘Koi…Mil Gaya’ has been re-released in cinemas on its 20th anniversary. Talking about the same, Hrithik has said that he is overwhelmed seeing all the nostalgia and the love that the film is garnering at present. He is elated to see kids back in the theatres with their families.
For the unversed, ‘Koi…Mil Gaya’ had hit the theatres on August 8, 2003. The film was India’s first sci-fi film featuring an extra-terrestrial creature-cum alien ‘Jadoo’. The movie was helmed by Rakesh Roshan and it also starred Preity G Zinta and Rekha in pivotal roles.
