‘Humare Ram Aye Hai’ Director Akshay K Agarwal Feels ‘Blessed’ Working With ‘Ramayan’ Stars, Says ‘This Song Will Only Bind People’
Director Akshay K. Agarwal is thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with the actors Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhlia, and Sunil Lahri on a special music video before the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The Ramayan stars who portrayed Ram, Sita, and Laxman, respectively, are reuniting on screen after 35 years for the song, Humare Ram Aaye Hai. The video, which was filmed over three days in Ayodhya, is about celebration.
“Ram, Sita, and Laxman have come to Ayodhya that’s soaked in a celebratory mood. We’ve tried to show that these mythological characters still exist in human form in the current times. We aren’t showing them in any traditional avatar,” Agarwal said revealing that Ayodhya in the video is decked up before their arrival.
The trio was open to ideas and trusted a young filmmaker like Agarwal, who has also directed music videos for artists like Ganraj and Wo Ishq. “It was a blessing working with them. For us, they are like God. They have a huge responsibility. But they were open to the exchange of ideas,” he said.
“Even 60-70 security personnel couldn’t manage the crowd. I had to personally request the people with folded hands to allow us to shoot. We finally managed with the blessing of Lord Ram. Even Ayodhya police were very supportive,” the director said.
He claims that Sonu Nigam’s soothing voice, which appeals to all age groups, made him an obvious choice to sing the song. He clarified that adding a nostalgic feel to the video does not restrict the audience.
“Almost everyone has seen Ramayan. Even if they haven’t, they are aware of it. And our video highlights its relevance. This song will only bind people,” he further added.
Akshay K. Agarwal is well-known for directing TV serials as well as advertisements.
