Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has candidly discussed her recent filmography, acknowledging that she “might not have done [her] best” in some of her past projects. During a Monday Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Instagram, the actress reflected on her career, admitting to making mistakes and accepting the outcomes.
Samantha’s statement came in response to a fan’s inquiry about her role in Citadel: Honey Bunny, the highly anticipated action series set to premiere on Prime Video on November 7. The actress revealed that she had pushed herself to take on progressively challenging roles, explaining, “I made a promise to myself that I’ll challenge myself with every role that I take, each challenge being more difficult than the last one.” She continued, “I agree I made some mistakes in the past and things haven’t really worked out, and I accept failure. I accept that I might not have done my best in my last few films.”
Despite her candid admission, Samantha expressed immense pride in her work on Citadel, calling it “the most layered, complicated, and challenging role” of her career. She further emphasised that even before its release, the mere completion of the project had given her a sense of accomplishment. “I am truly proud of it,” she said. “But I’m just gonna allow you to be the judge of that,” she added with a smile, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the show.
In recent years, Samantha’s filmography has seen a mix of successes and setbacks. Her 2022 projects Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal and Yashoda saw moderate box office returns, with the former grossing ₹50 crore worldwide and the latter collecting ₹32 crore. However, Shaakuntalam (2023), a mythological drama, underperformed, earning only ₹11 crore globally. On the other hand, Kushi (2023), a romantic drama co-starring Vijay Deverakonda, was a commercial success, grossing ₹76 crore globally.
As Samantha prepares for the release of Citadel: Honey Bunny, her fans are excited to see her take on the Indian instalment of the global Citadel franchise, produced by Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK) and written by Sita R. Menon. Alongside Varun Dhawan, Samantha will portray a complex character in the action-packed series that promises to push her acting boundaries even further.
