“I Dealt With Depression In My 20s And Anxiety Recently,” Shares Bigg Boss Fame Neha Bhasin!

After Deepika Padukone confessed to suffering from depression, many celebs came forward to talk about it openly. And one of them is singer Neha Bhasin. She grabbed a lot of eyeballs with her stint on Bigg Boss OTT and Bigg Boss 15. Post that, she got trolled on multiple occasions due to her closeness with co-contestant Pratik Sehajpal. As a result of all this, Bhasin got anxiety issues, about which, she is quite vocal on social media.

On World Mental Health Day, the Dhunki singer opened up on dealing with mental health issues at a young age. She shared, “I have dealt with depression in my 20s and with anxiety recently. Most importantly, I have the premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), which is a hormonal mood disorder. I have been dealing with this for 2 decades. Lack of serotonin at that point creates havoc in my mental health for two weeks every month. I take my mental health very seriously since I have faced the repercussions of it at a young age and the prime and start of my career. I felt a disconnect, a void. I did therapy in 2012 for dedicated two years and worked on shedding old baggage and learnt meditation and releasing techniques. I still start my day in silence and practice gratitude and listen to positive affirmations. Emotions need to be dealt with every day else they turn into baggage.”

On being asked if she tried reaching out to someone, she stated, “I couldn’t find the help I needed then. It was a very different time. I still feel a lot of issues like my PMDD goes undiagnosed or taken seriously due to lack of enough knowledge or studies but the symptoms are as devastating as a bipolar disorder.”

Neha also revealed how she keeps herself motivated. “I rely more on cognitive therapy than medicines. I also rely on lifestyle, food, nutrition and a disciplined approach to mental health. I did though for a short while taking anti-anxiety pills recently as it was affecting my gut and hence my health. I listen to Rumi, and Deepak Chopra, I do alpha meditations and I practice gratitude. Running helps a lot too. I listen to motivational speeches and run an hour,” she quoted.

Neha Bhasin is currently focusing on solo tracks based on Indian Pop and Punjabi folk music. She has landed voice to many hit songs in Bollywood, Tollywood and Kollywood.
