Criticizing the title of Mahamandaleshwar, Baba Ramdev said, ‘No one gets the title of saint in a day. It requires years of rigorous penance. Nowadays I see that people are randomly given the title of Mahamandaleshwar.’ Now Dhirendra Krishna Shastri also expressed his opposition by questioning the validity of the title given to Mamta and said that such honors should be reserved for individuals who truly embody the spirit of a saint.

Responding to these criticisms, Mamta did not hold back and said, ‘What should I say to Baba Ramdev? He should be afraid of Mahakal and Mahakali. Dhirendra Krishna Shastri is just a naive boy. I have meditated as much as he is, almost for 25 years. I suggest he ask his guru who I am and keep quiet.’ Amidst this controversy, Kinnar Akhara founder Rishi Ajay Das has expelled both Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni and Acharya Mahamandleshwar Laxmi Narayan Tripathi from the Akhara.
