The comedy content that we witness these days is different from what the entertainment industry used to offer a decade ago. It has turned cheap and abusive. Sometimes, comedians face trolling as well for their mean comments.
Bollywood veteran, Paresh Rawal who is known for portraying some iconic comic roles in Hindi films has always leveled up his game when it comes to the genre of comedy and sarcasm. But there is one important thing that he is not in support of and that is the vulgar kind of comedy which is quite trendy nowadays.
Paresh Rawal while talking with IANS has talked about how the definition of comedy has changed in Bollywood over the past few years.
Rawal said, “Yes, definitely (it has changed). The buffoonery which was there was also a variety but the kind of comedy which is coming in now is high and good comedy, which I enjoy doing.”
The 66-year-old superstar who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, ‘Hum Do Humare Do” further pointed out how he has never and will never support comedy in the name of mocking someone’s physical anomalies. He added, “There has definitely been a change. I have anyway never been in support of vulgar comedy or run down someone and make fun of physical deformity. That is disgusting. I think the first high comedy I did was ‘Andaz Apna Apna’.”
His film, ‘Hum Do Humare Do’ is about a story of a man forced to “arrange” a set of fake parents to impress his lady love. The film features Kriti Sanon and Rajkumar Rao in the lead roles. Rawal along with Ratna Pathak Shah plays the role of parents.
The film ‘Hum Do Humare Do’ is directed by Abhishek Jain and produced by Dinesh Vijan. The Maddock Original film will start streaming from October 29 on Disney+ Hotstar.
