While praising Kamal Haasan and remembering his old days, Nawazuddin said, ‘I like Kamal Haasan sahab. I was also the dialogue coach for his film Abhay. I was unemployed then so I used to choose such programs. A senior from NSD asked me if I wanted to work in the South. That’s how I worked for the Hindi dialogues in the film.’

He further said, ‘Then through these opportunities, I could interact with Kamal Haasan. Once, I presented Tughlaq’s speech to him, I was very proud of it. He asked me if I could present the same thing in 10 different ways. I said I could present it in 3 to 4 ways at the most. However, he can do it, he is a dancer and has control over his whole body, and he is a very good actor.’

Nawazuddin Siddiqui had mentioned his scenes being edited from the film ‘Hey Ram’ in another interview. In the interview, he had said, ‘It was a really important role. I had to become a victim of a mob attack, whom Kamalji saves. I was excited about this opportunity to share screen space with my idol. However, my scene was later cut from the film after which I cried bitterly. I remember I was consoled by Kamal ji’s daughter Shruti. Kamal ji had cut my role, but I had no ill will towards him in my heart.’
