‘I Started Off With Yash Raj Films…’; Shamita Shetty Recalls Struggle To Find Work After ‘Zeher’
Bollywood actress Shamita Shetty might not have many successful films to her credit but she is someone who manages to attract the limelight in some way or the other. After doing a string of reality shows, Shetty is now gearing up for her next movie ‘The Tenant’. While promoting the same, she talked about her struggle to find good work even after debuting with a big production house.
Opening up on initial days in the film industry, Shamita said she craved to get more work back then. She stated, ‘I started off with the best but saw a sudden drop. I began with Yash Raj Films but life that happened to me after that, or rather the work that came my way after that, was not as something I expected. I think I realized my love for acting with ‘Zeher’ and not my first movie ‘Mohabbatein’. After that, I became more greedy for work. I wanted to explore more.’
‘But sadly, the industry wasn’t giving me more. So, I always had these long 2-3 years gaps or 4 years gaps between my releases. And, every time I had a film release, people would say ‘oh it’s your comeback’. Now, I am hoping with ‘The Tenant’ that the industry sees some glimpse of my talent and decides to offer me some work,’ she added.
For the unversed, Shamita Shetty is the younger sister of celebrated actress Shilpa Shetty. She stepped into acting with Yash Raj Films’ hit ‘Mohabbatein’. The movie became an instant hit. It made Shamita lift the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year (Female).
Shamita’s last film with a full-length role was ‘Cash’. It released in 2007. The actress is coming back on-screens after 16 years with Sushrut Jain’s ‘The Tenant’. The film will release on February 10.
