Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda recently announced that she is all set to pursue a special MBA course at her dream institute the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Ahmedabad. Since the pictures of Navya from IIM-A went viral on the internet, netizens trolled her and claimed that she got a place in the institute due to a special quota. However, a professor from IIMA has now come to Navya’s defense and said that Starkid got admission on the basis of her merit and strong CV.

Promila Agarwal, Associate Professor at IIMA, wrote on her x handle that Navya was fully deserving to get admission. “She has a solid CV. You don’t need a CAT. Hats off to everyone for having the guts to sign up for this program despite that,” the professor wrote. She also pointed out that the program for which Navya had enrolled herself had a very low acceptance rate. “Even though people might want to underestimate her interview and CV, she cleared the cut-off,” the professor added.

She said, “For a long time there has been a debate in India about why children from big families go outside India for higher education. Why don’t they study in Indian colleges? Now when a woman takes admission to IIMA for an online MBA everyone wakes up.”

Soon after sharing the news of her admission to IIMA, Navya shared another picture with her coach who helped her crack the entrance exam. She wrote, “Thank you @mba_ims for coaching me for the entrance exams. This is Prasad Sir who played the biggest role in coaching and preparing me to crack CAT/IAT entrance exams. He is one of the best teachers I have had the honor of learning from. We were celebrating in the @mba_ims office the day I got admission.”
