‘I’m Still Clean!’: Ariana Grande Clears Air On Cosmetic Injectables Joke
Ariana Grande has addressed the buzz surrounding her recent joke about cosmetic injectables during her acceptance speech at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala. The actor-singer, who received the Rising Star award, had humorously thanked “two friends: Botox and Juvederm” in her speech. In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight (ET), Grande clarified her remarks, reiterating her transparency as a beauty entrepreneur.
Setting the Record Straight
Speaking to ET, Grande laughed off the controversy, assuring fans that she remains “four years clean” from Botox and fillers. “Oh my gosh, my joke! My bit! I’m still clean! I’m still clean! But when I start going again, I’ll let you know. I mean it,” she said.
The pop star emphasized the importance of openness as the founder of her beauty brand, R.E.M. Beauty. “I really want to be transparent as a beauty founder. I love it, and I support it. But I am still four years clean,” Grande explained.
The Speech That Sparked It
During her acceptance speech, Grande had joked about the term “Rising Star” being used to describe her at 31. “I’ve been performing since I was a child, so I never thought at the age of 31 I would be hearing the words ‘rising star’ again. I wanted to start by thanking my two friends: Botox and Juvederm,” she quipped.
She added humorously, “I thought I’d be hearing ‘slightly withering star’ or ‘drooping star’ by now, so thank you.”
Awards Season Highlights
While Grande earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Glinda in Wicked, the award ultimately went to Zoe Saldana for Emilia Perez. However, the musical adaptation of the Broadway prequel to The Wizard of Oz claimed victory in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category at the ceremony.
Directed by Jon M. Chu and co-starring Cynthia Erivo, Wicked debuted in theaters last November to critical acclaim. The second part of the film is slated for release on November 21, 2025.
With her blend of humor and candidness, Ariana Grande continues to charm audiences both on and off the screen.
