India will aim to extend their dominance in the third and final Women’s ODI against the West Indies in Vadodara on Friday, looking to push their batting limits further. After a disappointing series loss to Australia, India has showcased impressive form in home conditions, particularly with their consistent ability to score over 300 runs, a feat they will need to replicate when facing top-tier teams like Australia in the future.
One of the standout performers in this series has been Pratika Rawal, who opened the batting alongside Smriti Mandhana. While Rawal’s debut ODI did not set the stage on fire, her improved performance in the second match has generated optimism for her potential. She managed to clear the ropes once, an encouraging sign given she replaced Shafali Verma in the lineup.
Harleen Deol, who has been a regular feature in the team, finally notched up her maiden ODI century in the previous game. Her aggressive strike rate at number three has been a highlight, and she will be looking to continue this form into the final game of the series.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who has looked solid since regaining full fitness, has yet to produce a big knock. With the series already secured, the captain will have a freer mindset, and this could be the perfect opportunity for her to get a substantial score under her belt.
On the bowling side, Renuka Thakur has led the pace attack effectively, supported by young Titas Sadhu, who has also contributed with wickets. Leg-spinner Priya Mishra has impressed with her performances so far, and she will be keen to add another productive outing to her resume in this dead rubber. This match also offers India the chance to experiment with fringe players such as Tanuja Kanwar and Tejal Hasabnis.
On the other hand, the West Indies, led by Hayley Matthews, have been struggling, having conceded 300+ runs in both of the first two games. Matthews remains the lone standout batter for the West Indies, but the team will need a collective improvement across all departments if they are to challenge India in the final game.
