India suffered a thrashing by Australia as they lost the 2 ODI with a big margin of 122 runs as the target was 371. Indian women team will now look to avoid whitewash as suffering a whitewash put a dent in the confidence of the team. India’s next match is at perth which will conclude the series. Playing in SENA ( South Africa , England , New Zealand , Australia ) countries expose the weaknesses of the teams therefore playing in the 3 match will be a litmus test for Indian Women team.

India lost the second ODI by a heavy margin of 122 runs. Their batting failed to chase the huge total of 371/8 posted by Australia. India’s top-order has been inconsistent, especially from two of their key players, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and deputy Smriti Mandhana. Mandhana, who was in great form earlier this year, has not been able to make much of an impact in Australia, scoring only 8 and 9 in the first two ODIs. After a century in the series against New Zealand, the problem for her is the dearth of runs.

Australia, on the other hand, has been in top form with batters dominating. Unlike the Indian team, Australia’s top order has been consistent; four of their batters have crossed 50 in the second ODI, including Tahlia McGrath, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, and Megan Schutt, who all were pivotal contributors and put pressure on the Indian bowling attack. India’s bowlers have been unable to create breakthroughs when needed, and the poor discipline has been in place as they conceded a lot of wides and dropped catches.

The bottom line line India needs to resister a victory down under to be formidable team as winning in subcontinent is bit easier than SENA countries. India has the batting lineup and quality bowlers which can humble any team on the day.
