Indian Writer Files Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Against Bear Grylls; Delhi HC Summons British Adventurer!

The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a summon to British adventurer Bear Grylls in response to a copyright infringement case. It is filed by Indian writer and producer Arrmann Shharma over the show Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls.

The Delhi court on December 23 (today) summoned Bear Grylls in a copyright infringement case filed by scriptwriter Arrmann Shankar Shharma. Shharma has accused the British adventurer and television host of infringing her original copyrighted script Aakhri Dum Takk-Till the Last Breath by airing the reality series Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls.

According to the scriptwriter, the Discovery Channel rejected his script in 2009. They did it because it did not meet its programming and inventory requirements. Claiming that Grylls worked with Discovery when he sent his script to the channel, Shharma alleged that the famed explorer copied the exact format while working at NBC, after resigning from Disco very.

The scriptwriter’s counsel informed the court that the locations mentioned in the said work are the same as that of the said infringing show. The entry, interval, climax, and concept of the show were based upon as well as filmed in the manner. They added, “Narrated and formulated by Plaintiff in his original copyrighted script which was submitted to Defendant No. 3 (Discovery), keeping defendant No. 1 (Grylls) as the program`s host.”

The matter will be heard on January 17, 2023, at the Mediation Center of the Delhi High Court. Apart from Warner Brothers Discovery, National Geographic and OTT giant Hotstar have been summoned by Justice Amit Bansal. Launched in 2013, Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls is an American reality competition series hosted by the famous adventurer.
