Naaz Joshi becomes India’s first international Trans beauty queen with seven international crowns.
The international pride month has commenced from June and is being celebrated around the world to bring awareness, diversity, and inclusion for the LGBTQ community.
Naaz Joshi, a Delhi based transgender has made the country proud by winning the title of Ms. Empress Earth as she becomes India’s first international Trans Beauty Queen with seven international crowns.
Naaz, a role-model for many, is a trans rights activist and a motivational speaker. She is also the face of many brands nationally and internationally. She has been working on the gender sensitization program for many years and speaks regularly at big schools and universities. She feels that the only way to lift her community and make them independent is to educate them and teach them skills which they can apply in the real world.
Naaz has had her fair share of discrimination, and struggle in her long career. And that’s why she feels that it’s important to sensitize the masses and make them aware of what LGBTQ truly stands for. She has joined hands with SDM of central Delhi district doctor Nitin Shakya to empower the trans community and getting them regular jobs. Being a brand ambassador of an IT company, she aims to open computer training center in slums where she can train school going kids and transgender women on basics of computer education.
Naaz is the first Indian to win the prestigious title of Empress Earth. The contest was supposed to take place in Dubai on June 1st 2021, but due to the pandemic, the pageant was done virtually. Contestants from more than 15 countries participated in Empress Earth 2021. The countries who entered the top five were Colombia, Spain, Brazil, Mexico and India.
Contestants were given multiple tasks including wearing the evening gown and national costume presentation at the digital meeting. The final question that was asked to the top five finalists was “Do you feel that lockdown is the solution to the pandemic?”
To which, Joshi confidently answered “No, lockdown can only decrease the number of patients. But it’s also the duty of every human being to take care of themselves and follow safety measures recommended by the WHO.” She added “We queens should motivate others to stay calm and positive.”
Jury members included Likamatso Makutle from Lesotho who is the founder of Empress Earth, Mrs Rita Gangwanifrom India, Adriga Biswas form Bangladesh, Dr. Thiagaraja from Sri Lanka, Gugu Cele from South Africa, Sir Williams from Nigeria and Mr. Prem Gada from India.
The signature crown of Empress Earth is designed by Pesha Creations worth 3,000 US$, the crown is inspired by Mother Earth and studded with Swarovski crystals.
The 2nd runner up crown was bagged by Ms. Olivia from Mexico, and the 1st Runner up went to Ms. Valentina from Colombia.
Naaz says that winning the crown comes with great responsibilities. And that she will continue working towards the preservation and conservation of Mother Earth along.
