The first trailer for Nick Mohammed’s comedy has released. “Intelligence” Season 2 has plenty of situational satire between Mohammed and David Schwimmer.
Originally airing on Sky One in the United Kingdom, Peacock soon acquired the series when it premiered last year and will continue to stream the second season.
Intelligence is a cybercrime and surveillance office sitcom set in the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters. Schwimmer plays Jerry Bernstein, a brash US NSA agent, and Mohammed plays his incompetent data analyst sidekick Joseph.
Season 2 begins with a high-stakes challenge to world security: the Russians have just acquired a cyberweapon that Jerry helped create. With Jerry’s personal safety now in jeopardy, he and Joseph must devise a method to kill the bomb while handling workplace dating and the classic mix-ups that come with it. Morgana Robinson, Diane Morgan, Vivian Oprarah, Nick Helm, and Alastair Roberts are among the new cast members.
Mohammed, in particular, has done an excellent job at combining the absurdity of a corporate sitcom with the grim realities of working in cybercrime, demonstrating that with the right finesse, no topic is too taboo.
Schwimmer also delivers a strong performance, walking the line between likable and unlikable, and making Jerry a perfect opportunity for character growth.
The first season received rave reviews from critics, with Collider describing it as “sharp, well-written, and delightfully acted.” Now that Jerry and Joseph’s bromance has been created, Season 2 should be a lot snappier, with the will-they-won’t-they storyline wrapped up.
