Well-known comedian Vir Das has become one of the Emmy winners from India. He was awarded an Emmy in the Unique Comedy Special category. ‘Vir Das: Landing’, was nominated for the award which is currently streaming on Netflix. His ‘Vir Das: Landing’, shared the award with ‘Derry Girls – Season 3’.

Our renowned comedian Vir Das made history by bringing home the trophy for Best Unique Comedy at the International Emmy Awards 2023. For a man born in India who was raised in America, for Vir, neither culture existed in a vacuum. They were in constant interplay with each other.

The Netflix special titled ‘Vir Das: Landing’ is streaming on Netflix. You can enjoy his Emmy-winning show on the OTT platform, Netflix. He shared this award with ‘Derry Girls – Season 3’ as it was a tie between the two.  This year’s nominations featured a diverse group of 56 candidates from 20 countries across 14 categories, highlighting the global reach and impact of the International Emmy Awards.

A day ahead of the award ceremony, Vir Das posted a clip in which he said that ‘the day he was called a terrorist, he was nominated for the International Emmy Awards. He wrote, “The universe is a full circle. So just wanted to say thanks and that if anyone out there is ever in the dark, stay till sunlight, and know that love will find you and the universe will carry you (sic).”
