Is Janhvi Kapoor Okay About Comparisons With Her Mother? FIND OUT
Janhvi Kapoor is all set for the release of her Bollywood debut movie, Dhadak. It’s rather unfortunate that Sridevi died months ahead of her daughter’s debut film release. Ever since the world started seeing more of Janhvi on social media or after the trailer of Dhadak was launched, she is being compared with Sridevi – be it her appearance or gracefulness. Of course, Janhvi doesn’t mind being compared with her mother. However, Janhvi hopes to create an identity of her own. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, she talked about the weight of expectations on her.
“During the shoot, I was far removed from the din. Now, I can only hope that I live up to the expectations, including my own,” she says. “Hopefully I’m worthy enough to be given the chance to create my own identity,” she said.
Janhvi is well aware of what her mother’s onscreen persona meant to people. In a way, she doesn’t associate her work with her mother and she considers it to speak for itself. “Surprisingly, the only thing I don’t associate with work is mom. Both of us had consciously decided that this would be my own journey. Acting is the only thing I knew to do without her,” she told the publication.
Dhadak has been directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The movie is an official remake of 2016 Marathi blockbuster Sairat. It will hit the screens on July 20th.
