Nushratt Bharuccha has been making some experimental choices and it is fun to see her delivering such a talent. In Chhorii she becomes a woman who is stuck in a situation and her unborn child is at a big risk. She strives hard to save it and falls in the darkest secret. Nushrratt is almost in every frame of the movie and manages to give us the goosebumps when she’s afraid and helpless. Mita Vashisht gets the second most important character in the film. Her character see a complete 360 degree transformation and changes shades.

The release of Chhorii has fortuitously coincided with news of women outnumbering men in India for the first time since the first national census of 1876. According to the health ministry’s latest National Family and Health Survey, there are 1,020 women per 1,000 men in India. In light of this recent news, the empowering update of the heroine, which earlier would be helpless in such films, acquires symbolic significance.
