Masaba said, “She did not allow me to become an actor. I remember Anupam Kher has an acting school in Mumbai. I told my mother, I want to study acting because I want to become an actress. To this, my mother said, ‘Don’t even think about it.’ You know, your look is almost not Indian. You will be put in a box. You will be disappointed.” Neena further told Masaba, “You do something for which you have to apply your mind, which you can do for the rest of your life.” Further Neena said, “Would like to try SNDT.”

To this Masaba said, “Admissions were open at that time. I went there and I gave my paper and also filled a form and my test grade marks were enough to fill that form and after taking the exam, I got selected.” Masaba also told that nepotism is not limited to the film industry, but is in every industry or profession. According to media reports, Masaba said, “Nepotism is there in every industry. A lawyer’s son becomes a lawyer. A doctor’s son becomes a doctor. And their father recommends them. This is the way of the world. Not just in India, but everywhere. Yes, sometimes I feel that opportunities are lost because of nepotism in Bollywood.”
