‘It Not Just Affect Physical Appearance But…’, Sara Ali Khan Opens Up On Battling Weight Issues!

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan carries the genes of two megastars- Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh. And just like her parents, she too is dedicated towards her art. After making debut with Kedarnath opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, Sara went on to showcase her prowess in multiple challenging roles in films like Simmba, Coolie No. 1 and Atrangi Re. But it was not a cakewalk fro her even after having a strong filmy background. Sara struggled with weight issues since a young age and lived with it for a long time. In a recent interview, she talked about the same and revealed what inspired her to lose the extra kilos she had.

Sara who was nearly 90 Kgs before entering the film industry talked about her inspiring journey on The Ranveer Show podcast. She said that when she was overweight, she thought that there would be a better tomorrow, so she should just enjoy food. This mentality of Sara pissed off her mother Amrita to a level that she once told her it kills her to see Sara not taking care of herself.

Sara revealed that it was a film offer from Karan Johar that made her come down to 50 Kgs. She further shared how she believes that weight doesn’t just impact physical appearance but also the mental well-being of an individual.

Sara stated that she was huge and unhealthy on all levels. It was affecting her hormonally and still does if she touches a 60 Kg mark. Sara quoted, “I think it’s very important for overweight people to hear this… You definitely should keep check of what you’re eating, because it affects more than just your visual appearance. It affects your hormone balance, and that’s extremely important.”

On the work front, Sara will soon appear in the Disney+ Hotstar thriller Gaslight alongside Vikrant Messey and Chitrangada Singh. Besides this, she has Laxman Utekar’s untitled film opposite Vicky Kaushal, period drama Ae Watan Mere Watan, Homi Adajania’s Murder Mubarak and Jagan Shakti’s untitled directorial.
