In an old interview with NDTV, recalling about how he got the news of Divya’s death, SRK said he was in Delhi sleeping his and Divya’s song Aisi Deewangi was playing and he woke up in the morning and got the news that Divya had died by falling off from a window. Shah Rukh called it was one of the “biggest shocks” because he was supposed to do another film with Divya.

Shah Rukh Was All Praise For The Actress

He and Divya Bharti worked together in films like Dil Aashna Hai and Deewana. Their pair was very much loved by the audience. In the same interview, the Devdas actor was all praise for his co-star. He called her ‘stunning’ as an actor and was very different from him. Khan called himself a ‘serious’ person and Divya a ‘completely whacky, fun-loving girl’.

Remembering an incident, he said he had finished dubbing for Deewana in Sea Rock Hotel and walked out of it when he saw her and said hello. Divya looked at him and told him that he is not just an actor, he is an ‘institution’. Shah Rukh was very touched by Divya’s words but he didn’t understand the meaning of the saying. Later, he realised that it meant a lot.

Divya made her debut in films in 1990 with the Tamil movie, Nila Pennae. Before starring in Bollywood films, she starred in several south films. Her last film was in 1993 and it was Kshatriya.
