Jennifer Lopez Discusses How Proud She Is To Be Called “Mrs Affleck”

In a new interview with Vogue, Jennifer Lopez spoke up about her rediscovered romance with her husband Ben Affleck, inheriting his surname, and their journey as a mixed family.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s romance is a fairy tale come true. They have engaged almost two decades ago but split up, only to reconcile and marry this year in Las Vegas, followed by a lavish ceremony in Georgia in August.

JLo announced in her newsletter shortly after their Las Vegas wedding that she would take her husband Ben Affleck’s surname. Many people were dissatisfied, and they quickly expressed their displeasure on Twitter. Lopez has now replied to the backlash over her adoption of Affleck’s surname.

In a recent interview with Vogue, JLo revealed a rare glimpse into her marriage to Ben Affleck, detailing how the couple rekindled their romance and who made the first move. The initial step toward the couple speaking again occurred after Affleck emailed Lopez, after which the couple never stopped interacting and finally resumed hanging again.

She told Vogue of her friendship with Ben, “People in my life understand that he was a really special person in my life. When we reconnected, those feelings were still very strong to me. Sometimes you outgrow one other, and sometimes you just develop in different ways.”

Jennifer Lopez Thinks Taking Affleck’s Surname Is ‘Romantic’.

Many people were surprised when Jennifer Lopez opted to alter her legal name to take Ben’s surname, and the singer stated why she was proud to be “Mrs Affleck” in an interview with Vogue.

“People still will refer to me as Jennifer Lopez,” she said. But because we’re married, my legal name will be Mrs Affleck. We’re a husband and wife-team. That makes me happy. Which, I don’t believe, is indeed a problem.”

“No!” She responded It’s not the norm. It lacks any romantic elements.

I get the feeling that this is a power move. A woman and a person like me, I feel empowered, and I feel in control of my own life and destiny. I understand that people have strong feelings about it, and that’s perfectly fine.

But, if you’re wondering how I feel about it, I just think it’s romantic. It still has tradition and romance for me, and maybe I’m just that kind of girl.”
