Bollywood actor Jimmy Sheirgill has won over hearts with his charming looks and exceptional acting talent. He made his debut with Maachis and gained fame with Mohabbatein. After tasting success, there was no looking back for the actor. Till date, he is making audiences swoon over his terrific performances. Among the many on screen roles portrayals by Jimmy, one that remains fresh among viewers is that of a cancer patient in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Munnabhai MBBS’. In the film, he starred alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani and Gracy Singh among others.

Jimmy Sheirgill recollects memories from ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ shooting

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the ‘Dil Hai Tumhara’ actor reminisced shooting days of classic film ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ and revealed how he prepped for his special role. Jimmy mentioned that he had developed a habit of sleeping in hospital beds, so as to prep for his portrayal of a cancer patient. He stated:

“I knew that we had to shoot all night long later. So, while the crew was lighting up the location, I would wear my hospital patient costume and doze off on one of the fake hospital beds that was part of set furniture. And when someone suddenly woke me up, I would instantly go to shoot in that sleep-deprived, dishevelled look.”

Jimmy on how success of ‘Mohabbatein’ changed his life overnight

In a previous conversation with Cyrus Broacha on his YouTube channel, the 52-year old actor had opened up on his blockbuster film ‘Mohabbatein’. He disclosed that he earned so much fame after the film that he got super busy and became a guest at his own wedding. Jimmy quoted:

“I I was shooting for the film ‘Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar’. In the middle, I had been a guest at my own wedding because I couldn’t take out time. North Indian weddings have functions for 10-15 days. I couldn’t make it for those many days, I was there only for 2-3 days. That’s how things were 2-3 years after Mohabbatein.”

Jimmy’s personal and professional life

Jimmy Sheirgill maintains a low-key personal life. He married his longtime girlfriend, Priyanka Puri in 2001. The duo have a son named Veer together.

Regarding his professional endeavours, Jimmy appeared in ‘Operation Mayfair’ earlier this year. He will come up next with ‘Choona’ alongside Namit Das, Vikram Kocchar and Aashim Gulati. The series is directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra and will have its OTT Premiere on September 29 on Netflix.
