Jock Zonfrillo, MasterChef Australia Judge And Celebrity Chef Passed Away At 46!

Jock Zonfrillo, a MasterChef Australia judge, passed away at the age of 46. He passed away on Sunday, April 30, in Melbourne.

The cause of death has not been revealed, but his family issued a heartbreaking statements in his honour.

According to a spokesperson for Victoria Police, his death is not being investigated as “suspicious.”

Because of his death, the new season of MasterChef Australia has been cancelled.

Jock Zonfrillo Has Passed Away Aged 46.

His family confirmed the tragic news in an official statement on his Instagram account. According to media reports, no cause dead was given.

“With completely shattered hearts and no idea how we will possibly move forward in life without him, we are devastated to share that Jock passed away yesterday,” Zonfrillo’s family said in a statement.

There are a lot of words for describing him, and a lot of stories to tell, but we are just too overwhelmed at the moment to attempt to put all of them into words.

“The people he crossed paths with became his friends, or were lucky enough to be his family, so please keep him in your heart next time you have a whisky”.

About Jock Zonfrillo 

Jock, who was born in Glasgow, had been working in kitchens since the age of 12. As his career progressed, he became addicted to heroin before turning his life around in Australia in 1990.

Jock has worked in restaurants all over the world and collaborated with world-renowned chefs throughout his career.

His talent allowed him to shine in some of the world’s most formidable kitchens, and after relocating to Australia, he opened the Adelaide restaurants Bistro Blackwood and Restaurant Orana.

Jock’s Restaurant Orana received three hats in 2019 and 2020, as well as international acclaim, accepting the prestigious Basque Culinary World Prize in 2018.

After being married three times, Jock Zonfrillo had four children: Ava and Sophia from his first two marriages, and Alfie and Isla from his third marriage. He was survived by his third wife, Lauren Fried, and four children.

Before his demise, British chef Jamie Oliver shared a photo of them from on the set of MasterChef Australia, expressing their enthusiastic anticipation for the new season.
