Recalling her experience during the shooting of a Friends episode, the 56-year-old actress expressed, “They were all so welcoming to me as just a kind of a one-off character, and it was a really fun time.” Julia Roberts had a cameo role in the 1996 episode titled The One After the Super Bowl, portraying Chandler Bing’s childhood classmate.
In light of Matthew Perry’s shocking demise, Roberts shared her grief, stating, “The sudden passing of anybody so young is heartbreaking.” She emphasized, “I think that, you know, it just helps all of us appreciate what we have and to keep going in a positive way as best we can.”

Matthew Perry and Julia Roberts were in a relationship for six months between 1995 and 1996. The late actor revealed in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, that they were engaged in a “three-month-long courtship” off-camera when Roberts guest-starred in Friends.
In his memoir, Perry recounted, “I sent her three dozen red roses with a card that read: ‘The only thing more exciting than the prospect of you doing the show is that I finally have an excuse to send you flowers.’” He expressed his excitement, noting that on certain nights, he would be at a party engaged in a flirtatious exchange with an attractive woman, only to cut the conversation short and rush home to check if a new fax had arrived.
