South Korean actor Kim Sae-ron, best known for her roles in The Man from Nowhere (2010) and The Neighbour (2012), was found dead at her home in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong district. She was just 24 years old.
According to a Reuters report, a friend discovered Kim’s body after she failed to show up for a scheduled meeting. As per police statements cited by BBC, no signs of foul play have been found, though authorities continue to investigate the cause of her death. The sudden loss of the young star has sent shockwaves through the industry and her fans worldwide.
From Child Star to K-Drama Sensation
Kim Sae-ron’s career began early, with her debut in A Brand New Life (2009), followed by a breakthrough role in The Man from Nowhere (2010). Her talent was undeniable, and she quickly established herself as a promising child actor.
As she grew, she transitioned into teenage roles with films like A Girl at My Door (2014) and K-dramas such as Listen to My Heart (2011), The Queen’s Classroom (2013), and Hi! School: Love On (2014). By 2016, she had secured her first lead role as an adult in Secret Healer, marking a new chapter in her career. In 2022, Kim’s life took a downward turn when she was involved in a drunk driving incident in Seoul’s Gangnam district. The accident caused property damage and led to a fine of KRW 20 million (approximately $13,815). The backlash was severe, and Kim stepped away from the public eye, taking a break to focus on her health and well-being.
However, the repercussions of the incident were long-lasting. Though she was set to make a comeback with the 2023 Netflix series Bloodhounds, most of her role was cut due to the controversy. She later withdrew from the series Trolley and the 2024 play Dongchimi, which was supposed to be her official return to acting.
