‘Kahan Fas Gya Hu Yaar’, Kabir Bedi Said His Close Friend Rajiv Gandhi Felt Being Stuck When Declared Prime Minister

It will be interesting for you to know that famous Bollywood actor Kabir Bedi and late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi were childhood friends. Both of them used to visit each other’s houses to play with each other. Let us tell you that Kabir Bedi grew up with Rajiv Gandhi and his brother Sanjay Gandhi. Recently, in an interview, Kabir Bedi recalled those childhood days when he used to visit Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s house to meet his friend. He also told that both families were very good friends.

During the conversation, famous actor Kabir Bedi also mentioned the conversation that he had after Rajiv Gandhi became the Prime Minister. Rajiv had said to Kabir Bedi, ‘Where are you? ‘It’s gone, friend.’ Kabir Bedi further told that he, Rajiv, and Sanjeev Gandhi all studied in the same school in Delhi, where Rajiv Gandhi was Kabir Bedi’s senior and Sanjay his junior. According to Kabir Bedi, Indira Gandhi’s house seemed like a palace to him that he had never seen in his life.

Later in the interview Kabir Bedi also compared Indira Gandhi’s house to Umaid Bhawan Palace and said that there was a room in her house where there were toys brought from all over the world. When foreign leaders and politicians came to meet Indira Gandhi the then Prime Minister of India, they would bring toys for little Rajiv and Sanjay.

Legendary actor who has worked in several hit films Kabir Bedi then mentioned the circumstances when Rajiv Gandhi became the Prime Minister of India in 1984 after the assassination of his mother Indira Gandhi. Kabir Bedi said that when Rajiv Gandhi became the PM, he was in America and met him immediately after returning. Kabir Bedi was waiting outside his house with other leaders, but Rajiv Gandhi called him inside. Kabir Bedi said, ‘I went inside and saw the big PM Office. Rajiv closed the door and said, ‘Where am I stuck, friend?’ I told him that you are the PM, get serious. Rajiv Gandhi said, ‘Don’t tell me to get serious. All day long these people keep telling me to get serious. You are my friend. Don’t talk about being serious. Talk about old things, talk about good things, talk about fun things.’
