Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin has carved her niche in Bollywood despite having no connections in the industry. And one of her most memorable roles on screen is that of Aditi from Ayan Mukerji’s blockbuster film ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. The movie has garnered a separate fanbase over all these years. Besides the actress, the 2013 film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles. While the movie continue to rule millions of hearts, Kalki in a latest interview has revealed that she was warned against doing YJHD.

Kalki says she was asked not to do ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’

In a recent interaction with Bollywood Hungama, the actress shared that a few people asked her not to sign YJHD. Disclosing the reason behind the same, she said that it was very early in her career and it was all a part of strategising. Kalki shared that people clearly told her that she would be drowning in this film as there are two Bollywood biggies, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone alongside her. They had thoughts and doubts like her part from the movie would probably be edited out.

Further in the interview, the actress mentioned what made her say ‘yes’ to the role of ‘Aditi’ in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. Kalki said that she changed her mind after meeting Ayan. The director began telling her childhood stories about how Aditi, Bunny (Ranbir), and Avi (Aditya) used to hang out. He had the whole thing in his head. Ayan’s narration made the actress believe that Aditi’s character would light up the screen as she was boisterous and exciting.
