Kangana Is Ready To Return Padma Shri If Proven Wrong Over ‘Independence Was Bheek’ Remark- Exclusive!

Actress Kangana Ranaut lands herself in controversies now and then. She is currently ruling headlines after she made a remark that quoted Independence of India in 1947 as a “bheek”. Further, she declared that India attained “real freedom” in 2014 when Narendra Modi came to power and led the government

Ranaut made the controversial statement just a day after being awarded the Padma Shri. Her words created a storm on the Internet. Soon after, a complaint was filed against her. Many political parties started demanding action against the actress while some people took to the streets to burn her effigies. There were also demands that the Padma Shri she won, should also be taken back from her.

Now, after being trolled for her remarks, Kangana has come out to defend herself. The Thalaivi actress said that she is ready to return her Padma Shri if someone can teach her about what took place in 1947. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kangana shared some excerpts from a book “just to set the records straight”. She wrote, “Everything is very clearly mentioned in the same interview 1857 first collective fight for freedom… along with the sacrifice of greats like Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmibai and Veer Savarkar ji. 1857 I know but which war took place in 1947 I am not aware, if someone can bring to my awareness I will give back my Padma Shri and apologize also…please help me with this.”

How Kangana is being criticized by the masses?

In Jodhpur, Mahila Congress Committee president Manisha Panwar filed a complaint against her. In the complaint, she said that Ranaut insulted freedom fighters and people of the country through her statement, which falls under the “category of sedition.” Delhi BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor was among those who bashed the actress, saying that Ranaut’s remarks are an “insult to the sacrifice of freedom fighters”.

On Thursday, Kapoor tweeted in Hindi regarding this, “Being the son of a freedom fighter and coming from a family of freedom fighters, I find Kangana Ranaut’s remarks that India’s freedom was alms (bheekh) as the biggest misuse of freedom and an insult to the sacrifice made by freedom fighters. I wish the judicial system of India takes cognizance.”

Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik said that Kangana insulted freedom fighters and the Centre must take back her Padma Shri and arrest her. Malik stated, “Looks like Kangana Ranaut took a heavy dose of Malana cream (a variety of hashish grown in Himachal Pradesh) before making such a statement.”

A protest was held on MG Road and one of the participants, Asha Govind Khadiwala said that Ranaut must apologize to the nation for hurting the courage and sacrifice of freedom fighters. NSUI workers in Mumbai also held a protest outside the actor’s residence for her controversial statement.

On Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party had submitted an application to the Mumbai Police demanding a case against her for “seditious and inflammatory” comments.
