Kangana Ranaut created quite a stir a couple of years ago. She claimed that India truly gained independence when the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) came to power in 2014. She has now stirred up controversy once more with her most recent remarks.
Shortly after deciding to run for MP in the BJP from her Mandi hometown, Kangana attended a Times Now event on March 27. A video of Kangana from the interview went viral on Twitter and Instagram.
She stated that Subhash Chandra Bose, the leader of Azad Hind Fauj and freedom fighter, was India’s first prime minister rather than Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
After all the chaos on social media, Kangana shared an article clipping on Instagram Stories. It mentioned how Subhash Chandra Bose had declared himself the Prime Minister of Azad Hind in 1943. “Some general knowledge for beginners,” she wrote. What did Kangana say?
She confidently claimed to support her views on the platform and said, “Let me clear this first. When we gained independence, where did the first Prime Minister of India, Subhash Chandra Bose, go?” (Translated in English)
Kangana tossed out a theory after the host pointed out that Bose was not India’s prime minister. “He wasn’t, but why? Where did he go? How was he made to disappear?” She said that SC Bose fought Japan and Germany for India’s independence but was not allowed to land in India.

Reactions on Internet
On August 18, 1945, Subhash Chandra Bose passed away. On August 15, 1947, India became an independent nation. India appointed Jawaharlal Nehru as its first prime minister. Therefore, Kangana’s comments have not gone down well with many online.
“According to Kangana Ranaut, India gained independence in 2014, and Netaji Bose was the first PM of an independent India. Sardar Patel wasn’t made PM because he didn’t know English. For more such jokes over the next 5 years, voters in Mandi should vote for Kangana,” an X (formerly Twitter) user lashed out.
“I strongly condemn Kangana Ranaut’s statement that the first Prime Minister of India was Subhash Chandra Bose. We all know that the first PM of India was Shri Narendra Modi Ji after India gained independence in 2014,” another tweet joked.
