Kangana Ranaut, a renowned Bollywood actress, has recently made a significant career shift by entering the world of politics. After winning the Lok Sabha Elections from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, she has been candid about her experiences and the differences between her old and new careers.
The Transition From Film To Politics
Following the release of her debut film, “Gangster,” the actor-turned-lawmaker talked about how she was first contacted about getting into politics. She also talked about how she plans to balance her acting career with her duties as a member of parliament.
She disclosed that local political leaders and numerous family members approached her, urging her to contest the Lok Sabha Elections from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency.
“Soon after Gangster, I was offered a ticket. My great-grandfather was an MLA for at least three terms. So when you belong to such a family, and taste some success, the local leaders approach you. It is very common. My father had received an offer. My sister was offered to join politics after she survived the acid attack. So for us, it is not a big deal for us to get political offers.”
The Challenges Of Politics
Kangana candidly acknowledges that the political arena presents a unique set of challenges far from the familiar territory of the film industry.
“I am somebody who follows her passion. If you look at me in the film industry, I am an actor, writer, director and producer. And here in my political career, if I have to engage myself with the people here, I will go ahead with it. However, I won’t deny that the work in the film industry is comparatively easier than in politics. The latter takes a lot of effort. It is a harsh life, just like doctors, where only troubled people come to see you. When you go to watch a film, you are very relaxed. But, politics isn’t like it.”
Undeterred by the complexities, Kangana is resolute in juggling her acting career with her political obligations, a testament to her unwavering dedication.
