Kangana Ranaut’s foray into politics has fuelled speculations about her future in Bollywood. Now, the actress-turned-politician has addressed these rumors and left her next move in showbiz to the audience. Kangana, who won the 2024 Lok Sabha election as a BJP candidate from the Mandi parliamentary constituency of Himachal Pradesh, will soon be seen in her upcoming film ‘Emergency’ which is based on the story of a national emergency that came into force in India during the tenure of late PM Indira Gandhi. At its trailer launch, the actress said something that left her fans surprised.

Amid Kangana Ranaut’s growing political career, fans are questioning whether she is planning to move away from acting. At the trailer launch of ‘Emergency’, Kangana addressed these concerns. She said, “Whether I will continue acting or not, I want people to decide.” The actress added, “I never declared myself a leader. It was people’s choice to support me in the elections.” Kangana Ranaut further added, ‘Similarly, if Emergency is successful and people want more from me, and if I find success in acting, I will continue with it. If not, and if politics offers more opportunities, I will adapt accordingly. I will go where I am needed and valued.’

Talking about ‘Emergency’, Kangana plays the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in this political drama. The release of the film was postponed due to Kangana’s election campaign but now it will release in theaters on September 6, 2024. Directed by Kangana, ‘Emergency’ features a strong cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik.

Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, the film promises to present an entertaining portrayal of an important period in Indian history. With Ritesh Shah writing the screenplay and dialogues and Sanchit Balhara handling the music, ‘Emergency’ is expected to deliver both a powerful story and historical depth.
