Menstruation is not a “handicap,” according to Smriti Irani, who stated on Wednesday that this should not be a reason for women to have a special policy of “paid leave.” Actor Kangana Ranaut expressed her opinions over the union minister of women and child development (WCD) comment on Instagram Stories on Thursday. Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut stated that  ‘women have always been working and nothing has come in the way of their commitment to their families or community or nation’.

Speaking in Rajya Sabha in response to a question, Smriti Irani had said, “As a menstruating woman, menstruation and the menstruation cycle is not a handicap, it’s a natural part of women’s life journey…We should not propose issues where women are denied equal opportunities just because somebody who does not menstruate has a particular viewpoint towards menstruation.”
