This is why Kapil Sharma accused Dilip Chhabria of theft in court: Kapil asked Chhabria in December 2016 to create a vanity van that would cost about Rs 4.5 crore (before taxes).

There was an understanding in March 2017 that Kapil would pay Rs 5.31 crore, which included taxes. But Chhabria’s business, DC Designs Private Ltd, didn’t give the van back or refund the money, saying that the goods were being stored in a warehouse. When asked, Dilip asked for more money, saying he was having money problems.

When Dilip asked for more money, Kapil became suspicious. Chhabria said Kapil waited too long to do the check, which caused the van delivery to be late. Kapil went to court and sent a collection notice in April 2019. Chhabria kept trying to get money from people by making fake loans and parking charges.

Taking legal steps against Dilip Chhabria: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) put Kapil’s lawyer’s statement in a charge sheet against Chhabria for money laundering. Based on three FIRs, the ED’s case says Chhabria illegally raised money, which cost the complainants a total of Rs 18.13 crore. Money laundering was proven when the ED tracked the money to Dilip’s company.
