During the Director’s Adda for Film Companion, Karan Johar delved into the challenges of creating a contemporary love story for the present generation. He expressed the intention to address various issues within the framework of “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” including the impact of cancel culture. Johar acknowledged the evolution in his approach to gender politics, drawing a comparison between the gender dynamics in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and the ones in “Rocky Aur Rani.” He emphasized personal growth and understanding as key factors in refining his perspective over time.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s perspective of advising to follow one’s own path, without being swayed by external opinions, was highlighted by Karan Johar. Johar emphasized the significance of recognizing the evolution that accompanies age. As a parent of twins, a boy and a girl, he underscored the profound understanding gained about the importance of gender politics. Johar expressed the desire to avoid making the same mistakes and create an environment where children aren’t confined by traditional gender norms. The director stressed the need to embrace a more inclusive approach, allowing both boys and girls to wear colors like pink and blue without conforming to stereotypes. Additionally, he advocated against perpetuating harmful notions about expressions of emotions, urging against discouraging boys from crying by associating it with stereotypical notions of femininity.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted the film an A certificate in anticipation of its release on December 1.
