Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar was seen yelling at actors Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu at an event recently. His gesture was not from anger, but from shock, and created a hilarious moment. They were all sharing the stage at Prime Video’s special event to announce the titles for 2024. Karan also took a dig at actors who get some work done to appear younger.
‘Don’t want to be aged’
Sam and Varun were at the event night to promote their upcoming show “Citadel Honey Bunny.” It is the Indian spinoff of the US show Citadel, starring Priyanka Chopra. It is well within the Citadel universe but set in India.
As Karan announced the show and welcomed the team on stage, Varun went up and touched the star director’s feet. Johar, shocked by this turn of events, screamed. The onlookers couldn’t control their laughs seeing the talk show host speechless for once.
Soon, Samantha also followed Varun and touched Johar’s feet as a sign of respect. Karan quickly stepped back screaming, “No!” Although, in a moment, Karan seemed like he gave his blessings to Varun. The “Bawal” star turned to his teammates and said, “I think everyone should do it.”
This promptly brought Karan back to his senses and he said, “No, I don’t want to be aged here, please.” He also revealed how he is already battling his mid-life crisis. “I’m fighting my mid-life crisis, I don’t need you to put me in my place. Thank you.”
Karan Johar disses actors for using Botox and fillers
Varun further poked fun at Karan saying that he looks ageless because of all the cosmetic work he gets regularly. The “Bhediya” actor said, “I don’t think you realise how old Karan is because he gives a… job to his dermatologist.”
This humorous statement has different meanings and once more, Karan was at a loss for words. Karan Johar asked in dismay, “I’ve done a what job?” Varun Dhawan clarified that Karan has glowing skin, which hides his real age and he is the poster boy for anti-ageing. Hence, everybody wonders what kinds of jobs Karan had gotten on his face.
Karan got visibly miffed with the question and looked offended. In his witty style, he said, “There are lots of people who get jobs on their faces, I’m not one of them.” Indirectly, Karan Johar took a dig at a lot of actors who try to keep looking younger with Botox, fillers, surgeries, and whatnot.
Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu came together for the first time for Citadel. The spy thriller web series is Samantha’s latest after 2023’s movie “Khushi.”
