When Kareena Kapoor Khan used the word “Bible” in the title of her book, an advocate filed a petition against her in May 2024. As of right now, the actress has replied in kind. Kareena Kapoor Khan is a well-known Bollywood leading lady. She and Aditi Shah Bhimjani co-wrote Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible: The Ultimate Manual For Moms-To-Be in 2021.

Kareena Kapoor’s lawyers react to the legal notice issued to her for using ‘Bible’ in her book’s title

The Madhya Pradesh High Court served Kareena with a court notice in May 2024 for using the word “Bible” in her pregnancy memoir, which was related to the same book that got her into trouble. Christopher Anthony, an advocate, reportedly objected to the name “Bible” being used in the memoir’s title and started a petition on behalf of the Christian community, claiming that it offended their religious beliefs. This information has been reported in other media outlets.

The legal letter that was sent to Kareena Kapoor a few months ago was eventually answered on August 27, 2024. Numerous media sources state that Kareena never meant to disrespect any community or hurt religious feelings when her solicitors, Divya Krishna Billaiya and Nikhil Bhatt, stood before the court.

The actress even referred to her book as her “third child,” and this declaration was made in opposition to a petition asking for a halt to the book’s sales. The Madhya Pradesh High Court, presided over by Justice GS Ahluwalia, has set September 10, 2024, for the case’s next hearing, according to media sources.

What was the petition against Kareena Kapoor’s Pregnancy Bible ?

Christopher Anthony, a Jabalpur-based social activist, had previously claimed in his petition that the term “Bible” refers to the sacred text of Christianity worldwide. “The Bible is the holy book of Christianity all over the world, and it is wrong to compare Kareena Kapoor Khan’s pregnancy with the Bible,” he stated. He was unable to demonstrate how the word “Bible” was hurtful in Kareena’s book, thus the court denied his previous petition.

The Additional Sessions Court rejected the social activist’s appeal after that. But afterwards, in May 2024, Kareena, the book’s sellers, and the publisher received a legal notice. However, this wasn’t the first time that Kareena’s book’s use of the word “Bible” has drawn criticism. A Christian outfit voiced concerns and even filed a police complaint against her and two individuals in 2021, shortly after the release of her book, citing the pretext of allegedly insulting religious emotions.

On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s murder thriller Buckingham Murders is set to hit theatres in September 2024.
