Kareena who is currently on a promotional spree for her upcoming film ‘Jaane Jaan’ recently appeared at the Express Adda event. During her address, she shared how tough it was for Karisma to earn a name in the industry as before her, no girl from the Kapoor clan worked in the industry.

Talking about how her elder sister paved the way in the industry, the ‘Jab We Met’ actress stated that it was a lot easier for her because people already recognised her as Karisma’s younger sister. She used to hang around on shoots which gave her a lot of exposure. By the time of Kareena’s debut, everyone was like ‘Karisma’s sister is getting launched’.

Kareena recalls the criticism faced by Karisma

Furthermore, Kareena mentioned how people had doubts about Karisma becoming a star. They called her the ‘Taboo of the Kapoor family’. But despite all the hardships, she made it big in the industry. The actress stated, “She kind of sowed the seeds and I reaped a lot from it. A lot of people initially never really supported her. They said light-eyed actresses can never become big stars, so ‘don’t’ cast her.”

Kareena heaped praises on Karisma’s hard work and dedication. She said that the 90s actress pushed herself and became the darling of the 90s. The ‘Heroine’ actress revealed getting a lot of love from her sister’s fandom.

Let us tell you that there used to be an unsaid rule in the Kapoor family about girls not being allowed to work in films. Even if any established actress got married to any Kapoor lad, she had to bid adieu to her film career.
