The past week has been incredibly heartbreaking for the Kapur-Kapoor family. The tragic loss deeply shocked his ex-wife, Karisma Kapoor, and their children, Samaira and Kiaan. The unfortunate incident occurred on the afternoon of June 12, 2025 (BST), while Sunjay was playing polo with friends. Now, the time has come to bid him a final farewell, and Karisma, along with Kiaan and Samaira, is on her way to pay their last respects.

In a video shared by Pallav Paliwal, Karisma Kapoor was seen stepping out with her children, Kiaan and Samaira. All three were dressed in white, and Karisma wore sunglasses as she got ready to leave. Since the news of Sunjay’s passing emerged, the actress has refrained from making any public statements or interacting with the media, as the loss has been deeply distressing for both families.

Another video shared by Varindert Chawla captured Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan at the airport. The couple, both dressed in white, were photographed by the paparazzi. Upon hearing about Sunjay’s passing, Kareena had rushed to Karisma Kapoor’s residence.

Sunjay Kapur’s last rites will be held in Delhi 

Just yesterday, on June 18, 2025, the Kapur family released an official statement announcing the funeral details. According to the note, the funeral is scheduled for June 19, 2025, at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in New Delhi. It also mentioned that a prayer meet would be held on June 22, 2025, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Taj Palace Hotel.

The prayer meeting note issued by the Kapur family included a photograph of Sunjay Kapur along with a quote in Gurmukhi from the Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The message concluded with the names of Sunjay’s mother and his third wife, Priya Sachdev. It also mentioned the names of all his children, Samaira and Kiaan (from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor), his step-daughter Saifra, and his son Azarias (from his third marriage).

Sunjay Kapur’s death cause

According to close sources, Sunjay Kapur was playing polo at the Guards Polo Club in London, United Kingdom, when he felt it difficult to breathe and was suffocated mid-game. He requested to stop the game and then left the ground. Soon, he suffered a heart attack and died. 

An insider also revealed that Sunjay Kapur reportedly swallowed a bee, and it could be that the bee sting in his throat, which caused a heart attack. It is worth noting that Sunay Kapur had a polo team called ‘Aureus’. A picture of the businessman was shared by the ‘Aureus’ on their Instagram handle soon after his death.
