Kasturi Rajamurty’s inspiring journey from a small town in Tamil Nadu winning a gold medal at the WPPL World in Russia is an inspiring story that can inspire millions. She showed her interest in powerlifting at the age of 20 reflects how much passionate she was about powerlifting. It took a lot a of hard work to realize the dreams into reality. She grew up in Cheyyar which is a town in Tiruvannamalai distric, so her childhood wasn’t easy at all. Her mother worked as a porter at the railway station, carried heavy luggage every day.
Therefore despite the hard work her mother never complain as she visualize her daughter’s dream which made her work happily. When I was about to lift the weight at the competition, I thought of my mother lifting those bags at the railway station. Suddenly, my weights felt lighter in her career.
This year, Kasturi had the opportunity to participate in international competitions in Russia with the support of the Indian Powerlifting Federation and made the most of this opportunity by returning home with a gold medal. Her spectacular performance included a 75kg deadlift and a 55kg squat in the 48kg category.

Her mother is the only earning person in the family, as her father is unwell, and her sisters are searching for jobs.
