Bollywood actress Disha Patani found herself in the headlines after gunfire was reported outside her family home in Bareilly. The incident came shortly after a controversy erupted around her sister Khushboo Patani’s comments, which some people wrongly linked to spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj. Now, Disha’s father, Jagdish Patani, has clarified the matter and strongly defended his daughters and family.

Speaking to one of the media houses, Jagdish Patani said that Khushboo’s words had been twisted and misinterpreted. “Khushboo was misrepresented. Her name was unnecessarily dragged into the Premanand Ji Maharaj case. We are Sanatanis and hold saints in high regard. If her statement is being distorted, it is a conspiracy to defame us,” he stated firmly.

Meanwhile, police officials confirmed that seven to eight rounds of firing took place near the residence. Two rounds of aerial shots were reportedly fired around 4:30 a.m., though no one was injured. Soon after, the Dhelana brothers Virendra and Mahendra claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post, where they also issued a threat directed at the film industry. The controversy began when Khushboo Patani, a former army officer, criticized religious speaker Aniruddhacharya Maharaj for his remarks on live-in relationships.

However, her comments were mistakenly linked to Premanand Ji Maharaj’s discourse on youth and multiple relationships. This misunderstanding led to a wave of trolling against her. In response, Khushboo issued a strong clarification, accusing several platforms of spreading fake news. She posted, “Fake news against me! Deliberate attempt to defame me!” She further warned that she would file cases under IPC Sections 499 and 500 for defamation, IPC 465 and 469 for forgery, IPC 505(1)(b) for spreading misleading news, along with provisions of the IT Act related to cybercrime and harassment.
