‘Kise Ke Baap Ka Hindustan…’: Diljit Dosanjh Gives Strong Statement In Indore Concert Amid Bajrang Dal Protest

Popular actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is making headlines following his recent concert in Indore, where he paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Urdu poet Rahat Indori. The performance, dedicated to the revered poet who passed away in August 2022, was not only a musical celebration but also a politically charged moment, as Dosanjh made a bold statement amid protests by the Bajrang Dal.

During the event, Diljit recited Indori’s iconic ghazal, Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai, which resonated deeply with the audience. The poignant lines, “Agar khilaaf hain, hone do, Jaan thodi hai. Ye sab dhua hai asmaan thodi hai. Sabhi ka khoon hai shaamil yahan ki mitti mein. Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai,” were met with cheers as Dosanjh delivered the words with emotional intensity, connecting with his fans.

However, the concert was not without controversy. Bajrang Dal members had staged protests ahead of the event, accusing Diljit of making anti-national remarks during the farmers’ protests. The group also alleged that the singer supported the Khalistan movement. Bajrang Dal leader Avinash Kaushal condemned Dosanjh, saying, “Diljit has made anti-national comments multiple times during the farmers’ protests. He also supports Khalistan. We will not allow such a person to hold an event in the city of Maa Ahilya.” Kaushal further added that the group had submitted a petition to the administration demanding the cancellation of the concert, warning of protests if the event proceeded.

In response to the protest, Tannu Sharma, another Bajrang Dal leader, clarified that the group’s objections were not aimed at the concert itself but at the culture associated with such events, particularly drug and alcohol consumption. Sharma stated, “Our protest isn’t against the concert but against the drug and alcohol consumption linked to such events. It’s against our culture.”

Despite the protests, the concert went ahead as planned, albeit under heightened security. Strict measures were put in place, including a ban on meat and alcohol at the venue. The authorities, including Indore’s Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, ensured that public safety, women’s security, and drug abuse were closely monitored during the event.

As Diljit Dosanjh’s statements and performance continue to make waves, the Indore concert has become a focal point for discussions on culture, politics, and freedom of expression in India.
