Kritika Karma Says She Will Never Return To TV, ‘Don’t Want To Be Boxed As Just…’

Actress Kritika Kamra began her journey in the acting industry with television. She starred in multiple hit shows before foraying into OTT and films. Currently, the actress is winning accolades for her performance in latest web show ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’. Amid the promotions of the same, Kritika compared content on TV with web. She called saas-bahu television shows ‘regressive’ and stated she will never go back to TV.

Kritika Kamra contrasts TV and OTT content

In an interview with India Today, the actress hailed the digital space and said she doesn’t think she will ever get back to television because she need not to. Kritika said that presently the best writing is happening in web shows and she is at a place where she is getting the opportunity to choose from some very exciting work on the web. The actress is finding herself fortunate to collaborate with some of the best people and she doesn’t want to let go of that.

Furthermore, Kritika shared her beliefs about content on TV. She said that a large part of the program is made up of saas bahu shows which is quite regressive. So it is difficult to stay on television, but she tried her best. The actress quoted, “Thankfully, in films and the web, there is not such a big challenge because the scripts are very diverse. I don’t want to be boxed into characters that are just hero, heroine, love interest or maybe sister. The characters that I play has to be more than a relation to the main character. That’s what I am against.”

Kritika’s professional endeavours

Kritika Kamra made her acting debut with the show ‘Yahaan Ke Hum Sikander’ in 2007. Later on, she featured in blockbuster shows like ‘Kitani Mohabbat Hai’, ‘Pyaar Ka Bandhan’, ‘Kuch Toh Log Kahenge’, ‘Reporters’ and others. Meanwhile, Kritika’s recently released web series ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ sees her playing the role of Habiba. Besides her, the show also stars Kay Kay Menon, Avinash Tiwary and Nivedita Bhattacharya.
