Days after the funeral of singer Liam Payne, his 25-year-old girlfriend Kate Cassidy was seen visibly distraught outside a London café. The ongoing investigation into Payne’s death has ruled out suicide, determining that his fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last month was accidental.
Pictures of Cassidy surfaced on social media platform X, showing her sipping coffee from a takeaway cup while dressed in a white fur overcoat. In the photos, she appeared teary-eyed and overwhelmed as she looked at her phone. A recent report by the New York Post suggested that Cassidy has been struggling to cope, particularly after the emergence of new CCTV footage showing Payne’s tragic fall.

A close friend of Cassidy was quoted in the report, saying, “Whenever it seems it can’t get more painful for Kate, it gets even more painful. He could have been saved, he could have been helped. It’s devastating — and infuriating.” Cassidy herself reportedly believes the footage raises questions about whether Payne’s life could have been spared with timely intervention.
Emotional Funeral Brings One Direction Back Together
Payne’s funeral last week saw an emotional reunion of his former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. They joined Payne’s family and friends in bidding farewell to the 31-year-old singer.
The private service took place at St. Mary’s Church in Amersham, about 25 miles northwest of London. Payne’s coffin, a dark blue casket with silver handles adorned with white roses, was carried in a horse-drawn carriage to the 800-year-old church.
Despite the funeral’s private nature, fans and locals gathered near the church to pay their respects. Silence fell as Payne’s parents, Geoff and Karen, stood beside the carriage, which bore floral tributes reading “Son” and “Daddy.” Payne shared a 7-year-old son, Bear, with fellow singer Cheryl Tweedy.
After the service, music mogul Simon Cowell, who mentored One Direction during their rise to fame, was seen comforting Payne’s grieving parents before the coffin was driven away in a black hearse.
The death of Liam Payne has left a void in the music world and the hearts of his loved ones, with questions lingering about the circumstances surrounding his untimely passing.
