August 06, 2021

Sushant Divgikar who was in Big Boss8  and also a psychologist, actor, model, and singer, Sushant Divgikar dons many hats. He has crowned Mr. Gay India in 2014 and is known for being a vociferous advocate of the LGBTQIA community. Recently has done a broadcast with #TheRanveerShow on Beer Biceps. Sushant told about the life of Transgender in India. He shares about how he acknowledged his privileges as he had the base ( roti, kapda and makkan) which helped him to work towards what he is right now. And this is very rare in Transgender cases. His parents were supportive.

He also shared his first audition experienced where the casting director said to him that “you are too gay for this advertisement” and the advertisement was about toothpaste. Sushant was like that the gay people also brush their teeth. And after 5 years the same casting director called him and asked for the dates as he was very popular and all booked.

At his time there were no social media and he is very thankful for it. Otherwise, he wouldn’t survive all trolls and the hate comments. And the people who make fun of them because he was very vulnerable. And people used to tell him that the only work you can do is begging but he believed in himself and done so hard work and stand for the Transgender community. According to him, he is shiv and shiva.

In another interview, he also shared how he felt about the stereotypes and hate comments. He said ” I used to get very affected when I was younger. When I started hosting shows, I was a teenager working with youth channels. We never knew the exact comments of the viewers as there was no discussion on social media. I have to thank cybercrime. Shubham Singh, a  cybercrime official employed in Maharashtra, works relentlessly to help people who are being threatened. I would urge people to take a stand for themselves, to retaliate because we are not inanimate objects that can be sexualized. Young content creators should not let someone else’s opinion dictate the narrative of their life. They are hating on you because they want your life. Toxic jealousy prompts people to be mean. Ignore the haters and make content for your admirers.
