‘Looks Like Bedsheet’: Sonam Kapoor Reacts After Blogger Defends Her Coronation Dress!

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor wore a floor-length gown at King Charles III’s coronation concert on May 7. The dress was designed by Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead. The photos, as well as videos of the actress from the concert, were all over social media. One section of the social media said she looked like a bedsheet.

A fashion blogger has explained the history of the chintz print fabric on Sonam Kapoor’s coronation gown. The actress thanked her for getting the whole point of her look.

On Tuesday, Aamir Ali Shah, a fashion blogger, talked about how many Indian and Pakistani brands use chintz print without having knowledge of the fabric’s unique history.

He had a message for those who questioned ‘what was so special’ about Sonam’s coronation dress. He schooled them about the print. The blogger said that it is widely used for bed sheets, curtains, and upholstery in the Indian subcontinent.

The blogger made a long post as he explained the detail of the dress. He said that it has a ‘full circle’ moment.’ He further said that some scholars believe that chintz began to be used for garments when maids were given old or damaged household textiles. They would fashion into dresses.

Meanwhile, Sonam Kapoor thanked the fashion blogger for getting into the right detailing of the dress. The actress’s dress is designed by Emilia Wickstead, Anamika Khanna. They contributed the calico-inspired print. A report added that the Indian designer drew inspiration from 17th and 18th century calico prints. It is a product commonly traded between India and UK in the past.
