Lucknow Dominates Ayodhya to Win PT Upadhyay Senior Women’s Hockey Trophy

Lucknow won the PT Upadhyay Senior Women’s Hockey Team trophy by thrashing Ayodhya 30 in the finale held at Guru Gobind Singh Sports College on Tuesday. Lucknow strategically encountered Ayodhya tactics in the very first quarter of the match to prevent any goal. Therefore the second quarter was full of action as Lucknow’s Ruby converted a penalty corner into a goal in the 21st minute, which gave Lucknow the early lead of 1-0. After that, both teams were defensive so that both teams didn’t conceive the goal, which resulted in no goal in the 3rd quarter.

During the 4th quarter, the Lucknow teams came out all guns blazing as they scored two goals in quick succession. Khushi Tahore scored in the 47th minute and in the last minute of the match, apart from Khushi Pitambri Kumari, who scored a field goal, which led Lucknow to a do-in-and-out victory of 3-0. The Lucknow team was the most dominant team in the competition as they remained unbeaten in the tournament, which reflects the strength of the team. Sometimes there is a blip in a tournament, which can happen with any team, but it didn’t happen with Lucknow, which makes them the deserved winner of the tournament.

MLC Pawan Singh Chauhan attended the final as he was the chief guest for the final, and he distributed the prize money to the winning team as well as to the runner-up. Former Olympian Syed Ali, Asian Games gold medallist Razia Zaidi, Virendra Singh, international player Devendra Dhyan Chand, Lucknow Hockey Association secretary Avinash Srivastava, senior sports teacher Rameshwar Singh, and regional sports officer Ajay Kumar Sethi were present.
