Madhuri Dixit was at the top of her career when she married and moved to the United States in the early 2000s. She and her husband, Dr. Sriram Nene, raised their two sons, Arin and Ryan, in the United States before returning to India in 2011. Madhuri revealed in a recent interview with Hindustan Times that when they moved back, her sons, who were 8 and 6 at the time, were taken aback by her stardom in India.
Madhuri has previously spoken about how she and her family were able to live a quiet life in the United States, avoiding fans for the most part. As a result, being followed by paparazzi was something her sons had never known. “Initially, when we moved here, my kids were unaware of how things work here,” she explained. When I returned, things were different with the paparazzi. Everyone is present. They are outside when you go to a restaurant or anywhere else. That was something that surprised them.”
When people saw Madhuri as the star, it often irritated the boys. “Once my younger son Ryan came home and said something strange happened,” Madhuri recalled. When I asked him about it, he said, ‘one of my friends asked who your mother is, and I said she’s just my mother.’ And his friend responded, ‘we know Madhuri Dixit is your mother, and you are so fortunate to have her as your mother.’ “But mom, you’re just my mother!” Ryan exclaimed. The actor added that the boys have grown accustomed to this. “Things like that used to happen, but now they’re all grown up.” “They don’t even consider it,” she explained.
Madhuri returns to the big screen with the upcoming family comedy Maja Ma. The film, which also stars Gajraj Rao, Ritwik Bhowmik, Barkha Singh, and Srishti Shrivastava, will be available on Amazon Prime Video on Friday. Madhuri returns to the big screen for the first time since Kalank three years ago with Maja Ma.
