‘Make Fun, Don’t Get Personal”: Varun Dhawan Defends Arjun Kapoor Amid Online Trolling

Actor Varun Dhawan has spoken out against online trolling targeting fellow actor Arjun Kapoor, urging social media users to draw a line between humour and personal attacks.

The remarks come amid continued trolling directed at Arjun Kapoor on social media. Responding to the criticism, Varun Dhawan said that while jokes and light-hearted banter are part of public life, personal remarks should be avoided.

Varun, who has also faced trolling in the past, said he understands how social media functions and how public figures are often subjected to scrutiny. However, he stressed that criticism should not cross into personal territory. According to him, there is a clear distinction between making fun of someone’s work and targeting them on a personal level.

The actor’s response comes in the backdrop of increasing instances of online criticism and trolling faced by celebrities. Varun acknowledged that being in the public eye invites opinions and reactions, but added that certain boundaries must be respected.

He also indicated that narratives on social media can sometimes be shaped or amplified in ways that intensify negativity. This, he suggested, contributes to the scale and nature of trolling faced by individuals in the entertainment industry.

Varun Dhawan has previously been at the receiving end of trolling himself, particularly around his film projects and performances. Drawing from that experience, he reiterated that while criticism is part of the profession, personal attacks can have a different impact.
