Malaika Arora Acknowledges Arjun Kapoor’s ‘I’m Single’ Comment: ‘Ready For New Year, New Start’
Malaika Arora has finally addressed Arjun Kapoor’s recent comment about being single following their breakup earlier this year. While Arjun had publicly confirmed his single status during a promotional event for his film Singham Again, Malaika had remained tight-lipped about the split until now. In a recent interview with Etimes, Malaika shared her thoughts on the matter and reflected on her personal life.
Malaika, known for being private about her relationships, acknowledged Arjun’s statement but emphasised that it was his personal choice to make such comments. “I am a very private person, and there are certain aspects of my life which I don’t want to elaborate on much,” she said. “I will never choose a public platform to talk about my personal life. So, whatever Arjun has said is entirely his prerogative.” She also added, “I just want to say that, yes, it has been a very trying year for various reasons. I think it is time for all of us to move on from whatever transpired in the year that went by. I am ready for the New Year and a new start in my life.”
Arjun had confirmed his breakup with Malaika during the promotional event for Singham Again, when he told the paparazzi, “Nahin, ab main single hoon, relax karo (No, I am now single. Relax).” His comment was widely discussed as it officially put an end to rumours about their relationship.
Malaika and Arjun began dating in 2018, but the couple maintained a relatively low profile about their relationship. They shared glimpses of their vacations and personal moments on social media but kept the details of their private life mostly out of the public eye. Even after their separation, Arjun remained a supportive figure for Malaika, especially during difficult times, such as when her father passed away.

In a recent interview, Arjun spoke about his emotional bond with Malaika, stating, “In life, without going into one instance, I’d like to say when what happened with Khushi, Janhvi, there is an instinct and impulse. In this case, also, there is an instinct and impulse. If I formed an emotional bond with somebody, I’d always like to believe that I’d be there regardless of the good and the bad… I’m not somebody who is doing this for all and sundry. If I feel an emotion with someone, it will be there for life.”
As both Malaika and Arjun move forward, it’s clear that they share a mutual respect for each other, despite their breakup earlier this year.
